The role of a creative leader is not to have all the ideas; it’s to create a culture where everyone can have ideas and feel that they’re valued. Ken Robinson

Welcome to the final chapter of selling personal training online! I hope you’re able to take away valuable information and apply it to your career moving forward. This last chapter is about the art of creating. As a personal trainer, you are your own personal creative team.

You are constantly creating new workouts, routines and new ways to engage with your community. Just creating once isn’t enough. The reality is that the world we live in is always changing with new trends and technology and we have to keep up with it.

Think about it. There was a time when we used ip phones and now all anyone can talk about is the new iPhone X. There was a time when we’d buy cds but now we can instantly download music onto our phones. There was a time when we had to buy workout dvds to stay fit and now it’s really easy to stream workouts online.

We live in an evolving world. Chefs come out with new recipes. Singers come out with new music. Writers come out with another book (and with the tools and technology we have at our fingertips today, anyone can write and publish an ebook). Today we can have a full blown conversation with just emojis. How crazy is that? Whether you like it or not, keeping up with current trends and implementing them into selling personal training online will work in your favor.

You may not like social media but almost everyone is on it. You may not like emojis but almost everyone uses them. This doesn’t mean you should force yourself to do something you don’t want to. But it’s important to know what is happening in our world and how other people are reacting to it.

As you move forward in your career, continue creating and always think about what your next move should be. You’re selling personal training online and anything can happen! It’s exciting!

The Power of Creation

Shaun T (yes, I know I talk about him a lot but I freaking love him!) came out with a new week-long tness program this year called Shaun Week: Insane Focus. The workouts are anywhere from 27 to 43 minutes. The goal of the program is not to necessarily lose weight but to challenge yourself mentally and to know that if you can complete a week of workouts, you can do anything. When this new workout was finally released, everyone was streaming it. And Shaun was doing the program with you throughout social media while feeding you encouragement.

This is just one of Shaun’s many programs. While he is known for his famous Insanity workouts, he has created several other fitness programs to serve different tness levels. He is constantly creating and coming out with fresh new ideas to engage with his audience.

If you just stick to the same thing, it’s going to get old fast. Keep your clients on their toes and prevent them from getting bored. Introducing new workouts, methods and programs will continue to help your clients reach their fitness goals and stay motivated. You wouldn’t read the same book over and over again or eat the same meal everyday for the rest of your life, right? So why would you do the same workouts everyday?

As your career grows with selling personal training online, keep fresh ideas flowing. Let’s look at some ways to continue creating!

Keep An Idea Journal

sell personal training online

An idea journal is where you’ll store all of your creative thoughts, goals, inspirations, observations, workout and program ideas in a notebook. This will help keep your vision sharp and help you stay motivated. It’s also there so you don’t forget any of your brilliant ideas. When you’re ready to flesh out one of those ideas and turn it into a reality, it will be right there waiting in your notebook.

Follow Other Personal Trainers And Fitness Experts

Following people who inspire you and are successful in the tness industry will give you inspiration to go after your own creative endeavors. Take a brief look into their lives and see what they’re up to! How are they selling personal training online? Follow these individuals for inspiration only. Don’t copy their style or look at their success with negativity. Following other successful individuals should not make you feel bad about yourself. Don’t compare yourself to them. Follow others with a positive attitude!

Follow Fitness Trends

There’s always something new popping up. What it is today? Is it the obsession with online workouts and convenience of working out at home? Or is it HIIT (high-intensity interval training) workouts popping up at almost every gym and fitness studio? Or is barre the latest new workout craze? Whatever the new and exciting fitness trends are, you need to know what they are. It might be to your advantage or it might not, but staying in the loop means you always have one foot in the door and know what’s going on in the fitness world. Maybe these trends will help you develop new ideas!

Take Risks

You’re in a very demanding industry and it’s growing as I write this. As you develop in your career, you can either play it safe or take some risks. Not all of your ideas will work out and you need to be OK with that. With any creative and entrepreneurial endeavors, failure is always a possibility. I encourage you to embrace failure. Learn from your failures, take a deep breath and try again.

Just like you would tell your clients not to give up, you shouldn’t either. If you have a brilliant idea to launch a new tness program, do it. Fear and outside judgements will always be there when you’re trying something new. I’m sure there is someone telling you right now that you can’t do it. Do it anyway!
